It’s more than just a digestive issue.
It’s a functional gastrointestinal disorder, which means it’s a disorder of the gut-brain axis.

In fact, in 50% of people IBS starts as a major psychological stress or trauma, which speaks volumes about how the confluence of so many different factors outside of the digestive system can have such a profound impact on disorders of the gut.
This fact gives us an important clue for healing - it shows us that if you want to fully resolve your issues and get your life back, you need to take care of all the important aspects of your health, including psychological health and your social environment.
The good news is, if you’ve seen all sorts of doctors and specialists and have ruled out any pathologies/diseases like inflammatory bowel diseases, yet you’re still suffering every day, your road to recovery is right here; I can help you!
In a lot of cases, overcoming the digestive issues alone can help resolve a lot of the psychological and social stress associated with them, and restore mental and emotional wellbeing. However, in some cases, if the psychological and social environments are continuing to negatively contribute to your state of disorder, then focusing on the gut health aspect alone will be difficult.
There’s a growing body of evidence that shows that using behavioral and psychological interventions, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, can have overall positive impacts on gut health, irrespective of whether someone changes their diet in any way.
People are complex. However, complex issues don't always require complex solutions.
In my practice, I take the time and sit down with my clients and try to learn as much as I can about what they're experiencing, and many important aspects of their health. This includes exploring topics like the symptoms they're having, potential triggers that have been identified, relevant medical history (going back all the way to childhood), lifestyle factors that play a role, psychological stressors and trauma, social context and environment, and much more.
This way I can have a complete picture of your unique situation, and begin to craft a personalized plan to get you back to living symptom free, and thriving.
